There is no hangman’s noose.
Every POTUS ever impeached
Has managed to get loose.
Johnson a real prick of a guy
Fought Congress to a draw.
The fact that he survived the vote
Showed impeachment’s tragic flaw.
Slick Willie also was impeached
For telling Congress lies
Again, the senate let it go
Which wasn’t a surprise.
“But Wait!” you say “In Nixon’s case
Congress put on the screws.”
That was in a different time
No Facebook or Fox News.
Back then the Grand Old Party stood
For more than sleazy greed
The smoking gun that Nixon left
Would meet impeachment’s need.
Our GOP are like the Dems
Of nineteen ninety-nine
Ignore the crime/Ignore the law
Just follow the party line.
Impeachment won’t remove the prez
Though he is a doofus
It’s just another tv show
The senate is so useless.
