When slavery covered the earth.
And people cowered in the dark
Awaiting a hero’s birth.

When avarice ravaged the land.
And the only one’s that were admired
Were punks in a rock and roll band.

When the country was run by ‘bots.
When people divided up their souls
And sold them off in lots.

But phony ones were abundant.
The more they shouted at the screen
The more they were redundant.
I came of age in a time of no heroes
When no answered the call.
But heroes always disappear
When an empire starts to fall.
